We will start out our fall of fun with a Court of Honor where we will hand out some rank advancements and two well deserved Eagles.  Thats Monday night at 6:30 at St. Luke's fellowship hall.

Coming up we have the Great 8 Rendezvous on September 11th, with food fun and a dunking booth.

In between those two what better way to get back in the swing of things than a camping trip.  We hope to introduce you guys to kayaks and some great biking fun.

So dust of that book and uniform- lets get going. .

We had a hard week at camp.  I want to commend the Scouts for their diligence and perseverance.  They are a bunch of tough guys and I am proud of them.

We will not meet again until August 16th.  That will be an Eagle Court of Honor when Thomas Dukeminier and Alex Baily will receive their Eagle.  You will need to be in full uniform. Also the Sunday before that (15th) they will be presented to St. Luke during the 11 AM service.  All Scouts that can need to attend, uniform is requested, but not required for that Sunday Service.

I would like to have a leader's meeting the 9th (6:30 at Atlanta Bread Co.) if at all possible to discuss the following:
1. Rendezvous
2. Fund Raising (Popcorn)
3. The new requirements for leaders by the B.S.A. (Child Protection Training)
4. Summer Camp Plans
5. Recruitment
6. Schedule
Looks like a lot, but these won't take much time.

The flag pole will go up this week at St. Luke if all goes according to plan.  We need to thank the men of St. Luke and the congregation for this addition.  It will help us in our requirements and will show our patriotism.

And lastly, I need at least three uniformed Scouts to take part in the salute to the armed forces this 4th of July at the church.  The service starts at 10:00 A.M. and Scouts will have a simple but meaningful part to play in it.  They will stand at attention and salute the veterans who stand up during the time their branch of service theme is being played.  Please let me know ASAP if you will volunteer for this service. It will satisfy at least two rank requirements plus give you an hour of service.

General Notes and Information
• Scouts and Leaders staying at camp must have a fully completed health examination
form before arriving at camp. The official BSA “Annual Health and Medical Form” is provided in
the appendix of this guide and are available at the Scout Service Center.
• Fixed-blade sheath knives are not to be brought into camp.
• Everyone who comes into or leaves camp must sign in/out at the Administration Building. THIS
INCLUDES LEADERS AND VISITORS. Everyone coming into camp will be issued a wristband
to wear at all times while on camp property.
• All Scouts must be in their own campsites between taps (10:30 p.m.) and reveille (6:30 a.m.). If
they are out of their site, they must be accompanied by an adult leader or may be subject to
being sent home immediately.
• Closed-toed shoes are to be worn at all times including on the way to the waterfront or
shower.
• The Buddy System will be enforced at all times on Camp Yocona property.
each camper will be required to bring some type of sleep pad, foam, air
mattress, etc
VISITORS
We welcome visitors at Camp Yocona; however, in order to maintain a safe haven for
our Scouts, all visitors, parents and leaders, must sign in and sign out at the
Administration Building, where they will be issued a wristband.
Wednesday night is Parent’s Night and is a special time for visitors. Parent’s Night
begins at 5:00 p.m. What makes this night special is the extraordinary Order of the
Arrow campfire and call-out ceremony.
Visitors may join us in the dining hall, especially Parent’s Night. Meals are $5.00 each
and should be paid for in advance at the Scout Office in Tupelo or at the camp dining
hall.
CELL PHONES
It is the policy of Camp Yocona and the Yocona Area Council that Scouts attending
camp are not allowed to have cell phones. It shall be the duty of the Scoutmaster or
adult in charge to make sure scouts do not possess cell phones. The camp phone in the
Administration Building may be used by campers only if approved by an accompanying
adult leader.  (A Scout can give me their cell phone and I will keep it for them)

Not sure exactly the time we will leave (Sunday the 20th) but we will leave as soon as possible. Scouts should have eaten lunch before they come and be in full uniform (good idea to wear bathing suit underneath). We will return Saturday 26th in the early afternoon.
Read further in the Leader’s Guide is you want to. There are maps to Yocona and maps OF Yocona in there so it’s a good idea to bookmark this link or print the maps out.

ALL Scouts needs to help serve and clean up.  This is a fundraiser for YOU!  Full uniform is required (or as much as you have for you new guys).
You will need to be there no later than 10AM.
Mr. Brad
Please respond if you can attend.

Please so not forget the Bar-B- Que Chicken luncheon this Sunday.  Hosted by the Men's Club.  Donations will be requested to raise funds for our scout troop. (Troup 8)  We also will be raising funds to pay a counselor's salary at Camp Lake Stephens this summer.  I cannot think of any more worthy causes.  We need your participation.  Eat in and carry outs will be available.  We will start serving at 10:45 am immediately following Sunday School.  St. Luke will be the place to have your lunch on Sunday May 30.  Invite your family and friends for this outstanding meal.
Thanks
Cliff

Those of you who have NOT gotten back with me on what you want to take at camp or made arrangements for the $40 deposit are in danger of loosing the chance to go.   I have to have all this in, in fact I am past the deadline. I have no choice, sorry. I may still get you in if you hurry.

A medical form MUST be filled out to go to camp.
Find it here:
